NTPC to produce 300 MW of solar power investing Rs 4,500 crore

Public sector NTPC proposes to set up photo voltaic-based solar power plants with a capacity of 300 MW during the 12th Plan in the country, the Rajya Sabha was informed today

In a written reply, Minister of State for Power Bharatsinh Solanki said the proposed solar energy sites were in Andaman and Nicobar Islands (5 MW), Andhra Pradesh (25 MW), Gujarat (100 MW), Haryana (5 MW), Karnataka (50 MW), Rajasthan (65 MW) and Uttar Pradesh (40 MW).

He said the estimated cost per each MW of power would be Rs 15 crore. The total amount worked out to be around Rs 4,500 crore, he said.
