NDPL makes arrangement to buy additional 300 MW power
Following a directive from Delhi government, Tata-backed discom NDPL has made arrangement to buy an additional 300 mega watt of power to meet the increasing demand during the summer months.
An NDPL official said the additional quota of power would be available to it from April to September.
“We have made sufficient arrangements for power for the summer months to ensure that there is no shortfall in meeting the power demand,” the official said.
The Delhi government on March 2 had directed all three private discoms in the city to prepare a ‘summer action’ plan and make available additional power so that the city does not face shortage of power during the season.
Power Minister Harun Yusuf told the discoms to arrange adequate power so that no area faces load-shedding.
A senior official in power department said the maximum demand is expected to go beyond 5,400 MW this summer and government is making all efforts to ensure adequate power availability.
The power demand had crossed 5,200 MW mark last summer when the city had faced a string of power cuts due to the gap between demand and supply.
