Regen Powertech bags Rs 4.68 bn Torrent order
Regen Powertech has won an order worth Rs 4.68 billion from Torrent Power for the supply of windmills for 75 MW. The Chennai-based company manufactures wind power turbines under a licence from the German company Vensys. A notable feature of Regen`s turbines is that they use permanent magnets and are gearless, which, according to Regen, makes the suitable for low wind sites also.
Madhusudan Khemka, managing director, Regen Powertech, said, “The company has orders on hand worth Rs 20 billion. The company expects to end the year 2011-12 with a turnover of Rs 25 billion, against Rs 12.5 billion in the previous year.“
Regen Powertech, Khemka said, focuses more on IPP customers, as opposed to those who purchase windmills for the purpose of availing themselves of tax breaks. The company`s other major customers include Tata Power, Green Infra, Renew Power and TVS Energy.
Shares of the company gained Rs 1, or 0.48%, to trade at Rs 210.15. The total volume of shares traded was 1,110 at the BSE (9.46 a.m., Friday).
