Central power regulator orders probe into grid failure

CHENNAI, AUG 5:The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has directed the Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of the public sector Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd) to investigate the Northern grid failure on July 30 and 31.

In a suo motu order dated August 1, the Commission has described the grid failure as “alarming”.

The grid failure of such large magnitude on two consecutive days is “alarming and needs to be investigated in detail,” CERC has said.
