CIL Achieves 95% of supply target to power sector

This was informed by Pratik Prakashbapu Patil, Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal while replying a written question in Rajya Sabha today.
The supplies to power sector from CIL have been 312.02mn tonnes in 2011-12 as against the target of 328.21mn tonnes for Power Utilities, which is an achievement 95%. Compared to the supply to power utilities of 304.145mn tonnes in 2010-11, the supply in 2011-12 has been 2.59 % more than the previous year.

This was informed by Pratik Prakashbapu Patil, Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal while replying a written question in Rajya Sabha today.

The Minister stated that the actual production by CIL in 2011-12 was 435.84mn tones as against the revised target (RE) of 447.00mn tonnes which is 97.5% of the target.

The main reasons for shortfall in production have been incessant rains in the 1st Quarter and 2nd Quarter of the year, Delay in forestry & environmental clearances, Law & Order problems particularly in CCL (Jharkhand) & MCL (Orissa), R&R and Land acquisition problems and Coal evacuation problem in some of the growing coalfields like CCL, MCL and SECL.
