Burundi President beckons Indian investors in Hydroelectric Energy and Solar energy

Report by India Education bureau; New Delhi: Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, President of the Republic of Burundi, today invited Indian businesses to cash in on the numerous opportunities the country offers in  sectors such as hydroelectric energy, infrastructure, mining, agriculture, ICT, hospitality and tourism at an interactive session with industry leaders organised by FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.
Mr. Nkurunziza said there was vast scope for developing Hydroelectric energy with an untapped commercial potential of 300 MW, potential of 18 MW in six sites for the development of solar energy plants, as also  in magnetic and wind energy on the edge of Lake Tanganyika.“Burundi is in need of investments in infrastructure to better connect the country with its neighbours for trade, transport and communications. The nation is now attracting foreign direct investment. We are keen to redress the country’s poor position in the world, and are offering investors  a host of incentives,” he said.
