Coal supplies up 8% in April-Jan
The Government on Monday said supplies from Coal India and its subsidiary companies has increased by eight per cent during April 2012-January 2013.
“During these 10 months, 380 million tonnes of coal was supplied by Coal India, whereas last year it was 351 million tonnes,” the Coal Ministry said in a statement.
At the same time, production has increased 5.8 per cent in the same period year-on-year.
Coal production during the period increased to 355.31 million tonnes from 335.89 million tonnes of the corresponding period of the previous financial year, the Ministry added.
