Land acquisition for solar plants on

The process of land acquisition for setting up solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plants at seven un-electrified tribal habitations in the Bhadrachalam Agency has gained momentum.

The Andhra Pradesh Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (APNPDCL) has already initiated the tender process for installation, operation and maintenance of SPV plants in a total of 20 un-electrified tribal habitations in both Bhadrachalam and Palvancha divisions.

The move was initiated as an integral part of Decentralised Distribution Generation (DDG) initiative under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) scheme.

The initiative is aimed at providing electricity to the remote tribal habitations where the grid connectivity is not feasible, sources said. A total of 20 un-electrified tribal habitations in V R Puram, Velerupadu, Pinapaka, Kunavaram, Burgumpadu, Manuguru and Wajedu mandals were earlier identified for installation of SPV plants.
