MNRE: India installs 73 MW of PV in May 2013

India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy reports that only 73 MW of solar photovoltaic generation capacity (PV) were installed in May 2013, a sharp decline from the more than 200 MW installed in both February and March 2013. The ministry did not report any off-grid PV, or any solar thermal installations during the month. India has a target to install 1.1 GW of PV during its fiscal year 2013-2014. India had reached 1.76 GW of installed PV as of May 31st, 2013. PV represents only 6.2% of the total renewable energy capacity installed in the nation, almost 2/3 of which is wind.
