Defaulters to get ‘red’ power bill
GURGAON: In case you receive a “red” electricity bill, it means the discom has identified the default in your clearing your previous dues and has also “warned” of disconnection if arrears are not cleared.
Defaulter electricity consumers of previous month or billing cycle are likely to get ” Red Electricity Bill” which would also be a notice for disconnection and if such consumer failed to clear the current bill and arrear, his connection would be disconnected.
It was stated by the chairman and managing director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Devender Singh, who asked the officers that there no defaulter consumer should remain connected and premises of disconnected defaulter consumers should be checked frequently to ensure that he is not committing any unscrupulous activity.
“Every checking for detecting power theft would now be reported even if theft was not being committed and all reports would be filed online,” said the CMD. However, to give consumers a chance to appeal, the discoms are planning to constitute committees at circle level.
The committees would be headed by the respective superintending engineers. The details for the provision of appeal are being prepared. The committee would decide the case within seven days. He said that the period of paying off the amount of penalty is also being extended from 48 hours to 72 hours. The theft detecting parties would be headed by the sub divisional officer.
