RGGVY to be continued in 12th & 13th Plan

Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) the flagship scheme of the central government has received the President’s sanction on its continuation in the 12th and 13th five year plans. The objectives will be:

1. Completing spillover works of projects sanctioned in 10th and 11th plan.

2. Continuing the scheme for covering all remaining census villages with population of above 100.

3. Providing free electricity connections to BPL households at the rate of Rs. 3000 per connection in villages with population of above 100.

4. Extending DDG to grid connected areas to supplement the availability of power in areas where power supply is less than six hours a day.


The approval has been accorded for total capital subsidy of Rs. 35,447 crore, with Rs. 23397 in 12th plan and remaining amount in 13th plan.

    pl ask the DISCOMS wha tis the avrage consumption of BPL in urbal and rural areas and how many have got 3 Phase connections .. it is like wrong direct of subsidy . BP card holders are seen to riding marutis in some cae AUDi from rural areas
