Odisha govt chalks out plans for hydro power projects
The Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (OHPC) has chalked out a series of steps to boost power generation in the state.
As part of its plan, the OHPC has floated a tender to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 600 MW pump storage project at Indravati, energy secretary P K Jena said.
He said Indravati is one of the three pump storage power projects for which preliminary estimate reports have been prepared. The other two pump storage projects are 500 MW project at Balimela and 320 MW project at Upper Kolab.
Talking to TOI, Jena said DPR for two more mini hydro projects, a 3 MW capacity at Kanpur in Keonjhar district and a 2 MW capacity at Jambira in Mayurbhanj district, are also being prepared. Discussions are on to set up a 15 MW mini power project at Mandira dam in association with Rourkela Steel Plant. He said the government was very strict on preparation of drawings and designs for each power project and had selected Water and Power Consultancy Services (Wapcos) and IIT, Roorkee, for the purpose.
