Coal India Chairman to Head CMO of Telengana
HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister designate K Chandrasekhar Rao has got down to the task of finalising his team in the chief minister’s office. Senior IAS officer S Narsing Rao, currently chairman of Coal India, is expected to play a key role in the CMO.
Rao, who was initially considered for the post of chief secretary(CS), however, seems to prefer the job of heading the CMO. Narsing Rao hails from Medak district and was CMD of Singareni Collieries before moving to Coal India.
Another bureaucrat likely to play a key role in the Telangana government is Gopal Reddy, joint secretary in the Union Home Ministry. His return to State has been more or less finalised though the position he would hold is yet to be decided.
Gopal Reddy was in the Home Ministry when it was involved in drafting the AP Reorganisation Act. If Rao heads the CMO, who will be the CS remains an open-ended question.
