‘Stop buying costly power from Mahagenco’

Nagpur: Power consumer organizations MVGS and VGASRSS have demanded that MSEDCL should not be compelled to buy power from Mahagenco, since its rate were far higher than those of most private generators. They have also condemned the government for withdrawing subsidy given to power consumers.

MVGS (Maharashtra Veej Grahak Sangathana) told the media that Mahagenco’s generation cost was very high at 3.03 rupees per unit at Chandrapur, Khaparkheda (old units) at 3.97, Parli (old units) and Paras (new unit 3) at 4.38, Paras (new unit 4) at 4.68, Bhusawal at 4.75, Koradi at 5.13, Nashik at 5.62, Khaparkheda (new) at 5.79, Parli (new unit 7) at 6.75 and Parli (new unit 6) at 6.96 rupees per unit. The average price of generation comes to Rs 4.20 per unit, which is quite high. These figure pertain to 2012-13.
