25-paisa rebate per unit power in Haryana from solar panels

The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has announced a 25-paisa rebate on every unit of electricity generated through rooftop solar power plants. It also brought clarity to the net metering facility for consumers installing rooftop solar power plants by making amendments to the relevant regulations.

Despite having announced the state’s solar policy in September 2014, where it was made mandatory that all buildings in the state with a plot size of 500 square yards or higher should install solar power plants, the lack of clarity on guidelines on grid-connectivity and net metering had left officials at DHBVN and the Department of Renewable Energy, Haryana (HAREDA) baffled.

However, according to J B Mudgil, DHBVN’s chief general manager (commercial), after the HERC made amendments to the regulations on rooftop solar grid-connected system based on net metering last month, it has been finalized that power discom DHBVN will take charge of the process including installation of meters specifically made for net metering,
