7-hr outage at govt hospital hits services
GURGAON: The General Hospital in Sector 10 faced power cut for seven hours on Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm.
No ward except the labour room had electricity where backup was used.
The maternity ward staff had a tough time with 27 expecting mothers admitted in the ward. “Three deliveries took place without any electricity. It was only at 11 pm that the hospital authorities made arrangement of power back up in the labour room,” alleged a patient.
The OPD was closed on Sunday which relieved the staff of major worries as it sees around 500 patients daily. The hospital authorities blamed DHBVN for power failure and said they had informed about the power cut in the morning itself. “There might be a major flaw at the sub-station,” said Dr. Jaibhagwan Jatain, medical superintendent.
The DHBVN officials however denied such claims. “When they made the complaint, we told them there was no issue with power supply but there was some issue in the hospital’s own circuit panel,” said JC Bisla, assistant engineer from Sub-division Kadipur.
