Inflated bills top power plaints, discom blames software

NOIDA: Inflated electricity bills dominated the power discom’s consumer grievance redress meet here on Monday. While the consumers said they have been getting inflated bills and there has been no respite despite repeated complaints, discom officials blamed the flawed bill generating software and said necessary action was being taken.

The meet, held at the power department’s guest house in Sector 38, saw residents coming with specific issues from sectors 10, 11, 15, 19, 26, 45, 63, 61 among others. Besides inflated bills, voltage fluctuations, open panel boxes and rusting electricity poles figures among the majors issues.

“It’s been over two months that we’re getting inflated bills. Despite repeated complaints to the sub-divisional officer S C Gupta and %junior engineer A K Singh, the issues remains to be solved,” said Suresh Tiwari, acting senior vice-president, Federation of Noida %Residents’ Welfare Associations and a resident of Sector 20.

Till such time corrected bills are sent to the consumers, the power department should withdraw inflated bills and issue new ones with refunds, said Tiwari.
