Suzlon bags 31.5-MW wind job in India

Suzlon Energy Ltd  said Monday it has received an order for the supply and installation of 31.5 MW of turbines at a wind farm in the Indian state of Telangana.

Under the terms of the contract, the value of which remained undisclosed, the Indian wind turbine maker will deliver several 2.1-MW S97 wind turbine generators (WTGs) to domestic independent power producer (IPP) Hero Future Energies (HFE). Installed on 120-metre hybrid towers that combine both lattice and tubular structure, the machines are custom-designed for low wind speed sites, the manufacturer explained.

The deal also calls for Suzlon to install the turbines at the Zaheerabad site in Medak district. The facility is to be commissioned by June 2016.

HFE, part of the Hero Group, has 260 MW of combined wind and solar installed across 10 states along with 1,100 MW of wind schemes in the pipeline, CEO Sunil Jain noted. This is the first order it places with Suzlon.
