Suzlon to enter solar energy sector in FY16
Suzlon Group chairman Tulsi Tanti said on Thursday that the group is looking to enter the solar energy sector in the current financial year.
In an exclusive interview to TOI, Tanti said: “Our priority for FY16 will be to ramp up volume by executing a strong order book of around1100 MW while taking advantage of the immense traction in new orders.” The fiscal will also mark our foray into the solar energy, with plans to offer wind-solar integrated solutions, he added.
He said the company will continue to develop high-yield products which will bring down the cost of energy and increase the return on investment for the customers. “We also aim to establish 3 rotor blade manufacturing units in the country during this fiscal,” Tanti said.
While the Modi government has announced ambitious targets with increased focus on renewable energy sector, Tanti said the company is also in sync with the government and is “striving for sustainable and affordable energy for all by focusing our R&D efforts on developing high yield products which ensure 12% to 15% higher energy generation.”
Although he added that government’s target of 175 GW from renewable energy by 2022 can only be achieved if issues like availability of grid and land infrastructure are addressed.
