PESB Recommends D Rajkumar as next BPCL head

Public Enterprises Selection Board, the government’s headhunter, has recommended D Rajkumar as chairman and managing director of state refiner and retailer Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL).

Rajkumar is currently managing director of Bharat Petro Resources Ltd, a unit of BPCL focused on exploration and production.

Following the official headhunter’s recommendation, Rajkumar’s appointment now required clearance from the ministry and the vigilance department.

BPCL’s current chairman S Varadarajan retires in September.

PESB recommended Rajkumar’s name after interviewing ten applicants, including seven BPCL employees. Those who applied for the job included IS Rao, RP Natekar, Pramod Sharma, PK Panicker, SS Sunderajan and M M Somaya, all executive directors at BPCL. Other applicants included VVR Narasimham, executive director at industan Petroleum Corp, and BS Giridhar, executive director at Indian Oil Corp.
