Rising wind, solar production depresses spot
European prompt power fell on Wednesday on high wind and solar power output and with some sizeable nuclear outages priced in.
“There will be some hefty wind power spikes on Thursday before a slowdown in the first half of next week,” one trader said.
He added the medium term outlook for the summer weather was choppy, and that France and Germany showed differing day-on-day patterns well into next week.
German baseload power for day-ahead delivery was down 1.7 euros at 28.05 euros ($31.41) per megawatt-hour (MWh).
