ReNew Power awards 50MW turnkey wind project order to Gamesa

  • The order includes delivery of 25 units of G114 – 2.0MW T106 model turbines which will be installed at Amba in Madhya Pradesh, India


Chennai, 22 November 2016: ReNew Power, India’s leading renewable energy company, has placed a 50 MW turnkey project order to Gamesa. The order will be commissioned by March 2017. As per terms of the contract, Gamesa will supply 25 units of G114 – 2.0MW T106 turbines which will be set up at Amba, Madhya Pradesh. Being a turnkey project, Gamesa will handle the entire infrastructure needed to install and operate the facility.

The order forms part of the 304 MW consolidated orders announced for India vide Gamesa’s global press release.

Gamesa in India

In recent years, India has emerged as one of the most promising wind power markets: new capacity is expected to increase to more than 30,000 MW from 2016 to 2025, driven by huge demand for electricity, according to sector consultancy MAKE’S estimates.

The new orders obtained by Gamesa in India reinforce its solid commercial positioning: according to MAKE, the company ended 2015 (CY) as the leading OEM in the country with a market share of 34%, compared to 25% in 2014 (CY), when it also was the market leader.

Gamesa’s presence in India – as technology provider and wind farm developer – dates back to 2009. To date, Gamesa has installed over 3,000 MW and services close to 2,800 MW, under O&M agreements.
