NTPC commissions its first wind turbine

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), which is India’s largest power company, has commissioned its first wind turbine of 2 MW at Rojmal Wind Power Project in Gujarat.

  With this, NTPC has marked its presence in all the five segments of power generation i.e. coal based, gas based, hydro, solar and wind.
NTPC also commissioned its first high efficiency 800 MW unit at Kudgi in Karnataka during the year.
Unit two of 250 MW of Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited—an NTPC subsidiary was also commissioned on April 3, 2017 and with this, total commissioned capacity of NTPC has now reached to 50,750 MW.
NTPC standalone power generation crossed 250 BUs and NTPC group generation crossed 276 Billion Units in 2016-17 fiscal. Nine coal stations clocked highest ever generation – Rihand, Vindhyachal, Sipat, Farakka, Kahalgaon, Barh, Bongaigaon, Mouda, NTECL-Vallur in the just concluded fiscal.
