24-hour free power to agriculture from Aug 15

Hyderabad: After the industries, the TRS government is all set to implement the 24-hour uninterrupted power supply scheme to give a boost to the crisis-ridden agriculture sector. The free power scheme would be launched on August 15 with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao declaring the same in his Independence Day address.

The new initiative would put Rs 1,000 crore burden on the state exchequer in addition to the existing burden of Rs 3,000 crore per annum due to the subsidy on power.  At present, the government is supplying 9-hour power to the farmers during day time.
