Noida reels under regular power cuts as govt claims fall flat
The Noida residents have expressed concerns about erratic, unscheduled power outages in several parts of the city, which according to them have exposed the poor practises in the power distribution company, Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL). Areas including sectors 15A, 44, 25, 27, 37, 108 have been the most affected in the last few days.
“Today, we had power cut for an hour in the morning. It happened again for about half-an-hour later in the day. There’s no way of knowing how often this will happen and for how long,” said Anjali Gupta, a resident of sector 25.
The rains in the last week added to the locals’ woes. “Power was tripping throughout Friday. We were not even prepared to recharge our inverter. In additon, the appliances are getting damaged due to short circuits,” said Nitisha Singh, a resident of sector 27.
