Solar electrification project inaugurated in Matruh with Indian support
The governor of Marsa Matrouh, Alaa Abu Zeid, and the Indian ambassador to Egypt, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, inaugurated on Sunday a joint solar electrification project in Agaween village in Matrouh governorate.
The project involves providing a total of 8.8 KW of power using solar energy to electrify the entire village, including 40 houses, a school, a mosque, and a community centre, through connecting 40 lighting units reliant on solar energy, each producing 150 watts, according to Abu Zeid.
The Indian government has provided all the solar panels, sub-systems, machinery, equipment, technical support, and technicians’ training in the project. The role of the Egyptian government in this joint project involved providing and preparing the location for the implementation of the project.
