Power rebate plan a success in Gurugram: Discom
Power discom Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) met Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) officials in Gurgaon on Monday and gave a positive feedback for the scheme, ‘time of use’ (ToU) tariff, which came into effect in the city last month. The scheme is aimed at curbing day-time strain on the power supply infrastructure, and in cutting costs for the discom’s power purchases, while providing relatively cheaper electricity to industries and commercial consumers.
Discom officials on Monday told TOI the scheme was launched as a pilot for the period October 2017 to March 2018. Interested consumers can opt for the scheme by getting the approval of the concerned sub-division officer at the DHBVN office, to avail of a 15% rebate on their total consumption, provided they draw the power during off-peak hours. As per DHBVN, ToU tariff shall consist of three time blocks — peak hours (6.30pm-10.00pm), off-peak hours (10.00pm-5.30am) and normal hours (5.30am-6.30pm).
