Prasad is new NCL Director (Technical)
P M Prasad assumed charge as Director (Technical), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). He has a long experience of 33 years in open cast and underground coal mining and shouldered the responsibility as Regional Working Director (Coal Mining) in National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
Prasad completed his graduation in Mining Engineering from Usmania University, Andhra Pradesh in the year 1984 and appointed as Mining Engineer in Coal India Limited during April. Rendering his services in CIL, he completed his M.Tech degree in Opencast Mining from Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad in 1991. Thereafter, he served for Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and given special focus on safety aspects. He successfully started Kanhiya Opencast Coal Project. He is accredited to pave the way of opening 26 million tons coal reserve by diverting a nullah in Hingula opencast area.
In May 2015, Prasad was appointed as Executive Director (Coal Mining) in NTPC and headed the responsibility of mining division of the company. He played key role in accomplishing challenging task of starting coal production in coal projects of NTPC. His management efficiency leads to start coal production from NTPC’s first allocated coal blocks in Pakdibadvadih in Jharkhand.
His able management capabilities started coal production from the project after 12-years and first coal rack was dispatched in special presence of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal and CM of Jharkhand in February 2017.
