Delta exhibited its latest state of the art technology in Lithium-Ion Batteries (Cell, Modules and Racks), Energy Storage Solutions (Containerized Storage), Power Conditioning Systems and Energy Management Systems at this premier show. Delta has acquired the lithium-ion battery technology through its acquisition of MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) lithium-ion division which brings in a batch of patents along with the cell to module to system level capabilities.

Delta’s energy storage solution range starts from standalone modules (2.6kwh) which can be used in series and parallel to build cabinet of 41 kWh up to MWh scale:

  • Delta’s DBS48V50S battery module is an excellent energy source with a long service life for applications such as commercial energy storage systems and renewable energy storage systems. Its ready-to-go design provides advantages such as the flexible and easy configuration of battery systems ranging from 48V to 900V based on application requirements. In order to make sure cells are in the same operating condition, it has built-in Cell Monitor Unit (CMU) to manage the cell balance, monitor and collect individual cell’s temperature and voltage.
  • The MWh scale system is capable of overcoming the challenges faced by the irregular and unpredictable energy generation in renewable systems as well as the balancing of the Grid for utilities applications. Avantha Group Company CG has won a significant order of USD 105 million (INR 720 crore approx.) from PT PLN, the state-owned electricity company of Indonesia, to manufacture and install Power Transformers ranging from 30 MVA, 70/20kV to 500 MVA, 500/150kV. CG’s power transformers will be installed across PT PLN’s transmission network, spread over multiple substations and power plants in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and the Papua islands of the Indonesian archipelago.

The contract was secured through a highly competitive open book bid that involves passing through stringent quality checks. CG was selected for this prestigious project due to its successful track record in Indonesia, backed by a global recognition of its technical expertise in manufacturing and supplying state-of-the-art products and solutions. The scope of the project includes site survey, design, manufacture, transportation and installation of the transformers. The order falls under a project funded by PT PLN to enhance the performance of the Indonesian transmission grid, which is critical to PLN’s 35 GW Fast Track Programme.

This order also reinforces the existing strong relationship between CG and PT PLN. Since 1993 CG has excelled in meeting power transformer needs of PT PLN locally and this seventh consecutive order in the open book series, reinforces the strong relationships that CG builds in all markets that it serves. Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) developed the new 700 V CoolMOSTM P7 family to serve today’s and tomorrow’s trends in quasi resonant flyback topologies. These new MOSFETs offer unmatched performance improvements compared to currently used superjunction technologies. Soft switching topologies like smart phone and tablet chargers but also notebook adapters profit from this advantage. Additionally, the new CoolMOS supports fast switching and high power density designs for TV adapterslightingAudio, and Aux power. The new family conveys an improved form factor for very slim designs.

Compared to competitor parts the new 700 V CoolMOS P7 technology delivers reduced switching losses (EOSS) from 27 up to 50 percent. In a flyback based charger application the technology leads to up to 3.9 percent higher efficiency. Furthermore, the device temperature is reduced by up to 16 K. In comparison to the previous 650 V C6 technology it offers a 2.4 percent gain in efficiency and 12 K lower device temperature.

The integrated Zener diode ensures an increased ESD ruggedness of up to HBM Class 2 level. Customers profit from an improved assembly yield which leads to less production related failures and finally saves manufacturing costs. Additionally, the 700 V CoolMOS P7 shows low losses due to its very low RDS(on)*Qg and RDS(on)*EOSS. Compared to C6 technology as well as to some competitor devices, the new family features an additional extra 50 V blocking voltage.

Keeping the ease-of-use in mind, the technology has been developed with a VGSth of 3 V and a very narrow tolerance of ±0.5 V. This makes the new P7 family very easy to design-in and enables the usage of lower gate source voltage, which makes it easier to drive and leads to less idle losses. Especially in price sensitive segments, the new 700 V CoolMOS P7 offers an attractive price performance ratio that helps customers in taking further advantages in competitiveness.


The 700 V CoolMOS P7 family is available with the most relevant RDS(on) package combinations including 360 m? up to 1400 m? in IPAK SL, DPAK and TO-220FP. Azure Power (NYSE: AZRE), a leading solar power producer in India, announced that it has commissioned the largest (150 MW) solar power project in north India, in the state of Punjab in December 2016. For this project, Azure Power had signed a solar power implementation agreement with Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) under its Solar Policy Phase III. The 150MW solar power plant represents a portfolio of three projects of 50MW each. The weighted average tariff on these projects is INR 5.63 (US$ 8.5 cents) per kWh and the company will supply power to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for 25 years.

Spread across 713 acres of land in Punjab, the project was commissioned ahead of the contracted scheduled date. By leasing project land, Azure Power has created discretionary long term cash flow for the local community. The solar power plant will help in electrifying the nearby areas and will create an estimated 1,000 jobs in the locality.
